The Original Snow Guard Story . . . . Our snow guard is the original Cody Snow Guard - the first made in the midwest and one the oldest in the country. F.C. Cody, who was my mentor for architectural copperwork beginning in the 1970's, started working in his father’s Chicago architectural sheet metal shop before 1924. Together, they patented and manufactured this original, classic “snow-guard.” (We are operating the same shop.) Having installed them for over 32 years, the shop was passed down to me and we have continued production as the Gough SnoGuard TM. (Mr. Cody just turned 100 years old. . . . happy birthday, Frank!!!) What we offer to you is:
These snow guards have been
installed on countless churches, schools, village halls, libraries,
museums, businesses and fine residences throughout the country's
snow belt. (From New England, to the plains of
the Mid-West, through the mountains of Utah to the mountains of
California) For strength, endurance and aesthetics - this classic, medium-height snow guard is used in new construction and is easy to retrofit. Versions are adapted for Slate, Tile, Asphalt shingles, Wood shakes, Copper, and Painted metal roofs. To offer snow retention devices for all types of roofs, we are a distributor for the S-5!TM ColorGardTM snow rail / snow fence system for painted standing seam roofs. Our intent is to be a one-stop shop for all your roof's snow retention needs. (. . . call if you have any questions or special applications.) Gough SnoGuardsTM may be permanently secured with copper nails, hooked or soldered to a copper roof. (Adhesives or epoxy may be used in limited installations.)
