The Original Snow Guard Story . . . . Our snow guard is the original F.C. Cody Snow Guard - the first in the country made of sheet metal, the first made in the midwest and is one the oldest in the country. Frank Cody, who was my mentor for architectural copperwork beginning in the 1970's, started working in his father’s Chicago architectural sheet metal shop before 1924. Much of their work was for the Archdiocese of Chicago. Together, they patented and manufactured this original, classic “snow-guard.” Having installed them for over 32 years, the shop was passed down to me 10 years ago and we have continued production as the Gough SnoGuard TM operating in the same shop.
